** Thanks George Lucas his insist changing on Episode IV to VI, the effects/CGI changes made the whole series much more joining. I accepting all the change made, without it, you will had a big feeling on the film downgrading badly after the prequel. I know some big fans prefer the origin as some of it never like the prequel, but I am with George Lucas, the changes is necessary to complete the whole series.

Battle Royale - Director Cut BD Review

The Film: Battle Royale is one of the best Cult film, if you love this kind of film, you definitely love it. It is violence and not suitable for kids. Some scripts in the film is meaningful. Well done. 4 Star

PQ: It may not great, but good. DNR hater may dislike it, as you can seen DNR is apply, but still in acceptable level. At least for me it is far far better than Back to the Future DNR issue. After completing the Director cut edition, I do preview the original theatrical edition, I didn't find any inconsistent issue as mention by blu-ray.com reviewer. Overall, I give it 3.5 star.

AQ: Didn't find anything bad about it, no over high frequency and strong gun shoot. 4 Star.

Extra: Plenty of extra, but sadly all in low quality SD. I mean low quality means bad transfer, not because it is SD, but bad PQ. I can't even complete watching any of the extra features. 2 Star.

Overall: Never regret getting it. and I love my Limited Edition Pressing Number: 9797

The Film: Never though Sigourney Weaver was inside there, my last watching could probably 15 to 20 years ago where I was still a kids and dunno who is Sigourney Weaver. Still loving the film. 4.5 Star.

PQ: Better than expected, well done and no DNR issue, but ... grain hater must avoid this, some viewer at blu-ray.com said it is just too grains, for me I find it was ok, it is not the greatest, but in well control. 4 Star.

AQ: I just found the sound is flat and weak. 3 Star.

Extra: Plenty of extra, 4 Star.

The film: This is the most spectacular animation I ever seen in my life. The details is crazy and look real, every drawing is perfection and gorgeous look! The film itself is well done and it do actually tribute to a classic film. Adult will definitely love it, but I don't think young kids will enjoy on it, it was did for adult audience. Without think twice, it is a confirm 5 Star.

PQ: The best transfer I ever seen for animation. 5 Star.

AQ: Great and solid sounding. 5 Star.

Packaging: One of the gorgeous ever did slipcover, a must for slipcover collector.

Overall 5 Star, highly recommended!

Just finish watching the Winged Migration. The shooting is wow!, during watching I keep thinking how possible they can shoot that near those geese. Then I watch the making, and now I know! as those geese is feed by them since born! That why they can shoot in such near distance and they not actually migration, they are travelling together with the group. (by flight from one destination to another).

Hmm..... kinda like being cheat right, haha.......... anyway it is a great film showing how beauty those winged. Excellent cinematography.

Remark: A lot talk about the green tint issue, for me it looks OK, I believe it is intentional to comply another 2 episode or even the upcoming release of The Hobbit. Remakr: PQ is among the best for this Extended Edition Trilogy set.

In overall, highly recommended if you love LOTR EE, the splitting to two disc for every episode is the right choice to maintain such high in PQ & AQ. The only drawback is, it could be better if the Extra had been remastered to HD quality and loading in Blu-ray instead of the same source from the previous release DVD edition.

Sucker Punch - suck man! I am given it 0 star .... until the last sentence, which is extremely meaningful, 5 star due to that last sentence.

Visual effect wise is stunning! Extreme games effect, full mark, 5 star. 1st time I seen trailer is showing the gaming trailer in a blu-ray film! Undeniable AQ 5 star as well.You either enjoy it, love it, or throw to dustbin.

Finish watching The Adjustment Bureau. I never know this and it is a blind buy for me and I didn't regret doing so.

I am surprise as I never know the story is like that.

Honestly it ain't bad, just feel it might be a bit rush everywhere......... but this is the part of the film as well. Well done.

The film is encoded with VC-1 where I believe a lot user had in mind it won't be as great as AVC encode, include myself.

But after watching this film, I can only said VC-1 actually can blow you away as well!

The UK edition of Home is new transfer in BD50 with extra 30-min making of feature which worth the view. UK edition is confirm region A playable

US Edition is under BD25 without the making of feature.

German edition do came with 30-min making of as well but it is a cut 90mins not full length 120mins as UK or US release.

Yann Arthus-Bertrand is genius of photographer and cinematographer! The second wonderful I ever seen in human capture of earth beside Baraka.

It is one of the meaningful documentary every human shall seen.

Sometimes when think back, now's day those bad temper by disaster is those country that had badly destroy the earth, this include China, Japan and even Haiti ....

Finally complete watching the Alien Anthology, all episode I watch is base on Director/Special Edition. Overall it tell the better story especially the Alien 3 which far less connection if you watch the theatrical edition.

I understand most people may prefer the theatrical edition especially the 1st Alien, I watch it before all theatrical version, so I prefer choose the special edition in overall.

I am not going to touch the story part which I believe everyone knowing about it. If you never watch Alien before, is better catch by your own.

Packaging

The current version i review is base on French Limited Egg Edition which include 6 BD + 4 DVD. The 6 BD is same as any version release anywhere, the extra 4 DVD is basically the same copy as year 2003 release DVD - the movie itself only and it was not taken from current BD transfer.

The BD & DVD print is in Frence but inside everything is same as others, menu on English.

Alien

This is the year 1979 production, for that decade, it is somehow in perfection as such standard. One of the Epic Alien film.

Picture Quality

5 star. The most perfect among the rest, it was shockingly how well transfer where it was shoot on year 1979.

Audio Quality

4 star. For that decade, nothing much you can request on it.

Aliens

This is by far my most favour Alien Episode, it was well done and the most enjoyable ever. Release on year 1986.

Picture Quality

4.5 star. Still great transfer, 2nd best after 1st Alien.

Audio Quality

5 star. Perfection.

Alien 3

A lot viewer dislike this episode from what I gather from internet, for me it ain't that bad and the special edition at least far better joining the overall Alien story.

Picture Quality

3.5 star, the transfer is just ok, you will notice certain soften issue and the most I dislike is the fake look of the CGI Alien at the ending part (I know this is not to do with it Picture Quality), it was too CGI, but it was did on year 1992 which CGI isn't mature yet.

Audio Quality

5 star. As great as 2nd episode.

Alien Resurrection

This is the 4th episode of Alien, after this all is Alien v/s Predator show, and I do hope this be the last, the story is the weakness anyway. Not important you watching it or not. Alien creation wise is the best among the rest, thanks for the more mature CGI.

Picture Quality

3 star, the transfer is awful, bad color render, edge enhancement issue everywhere. Terrible transfer, hardly believe this is the latest shoot taken on year 1997.

Audio Quality

5 star. As usual great transfer.

Extra Features

They is in total 2 BD full of extra, I believe it is far than enough for fans. Nearly finish Disc 5, it take times for digest it.

Now I just knew so many case happen during production of all the Alien movie.

Overall, this a great collection for any Alien Fans, nor-matter what edition you choose for. Highly recommended.

My Baraka BD is arrived :-D + Review

Baraka means blessing in a multitude of languages. This is a 1992 non-narrative film directed by Ron Fricke and was the first in over twenty years to be photographed in the 70mm Todd-AO format.

Baraka is also the only film that re-scanned at 8k resolution with special dedicated equipment did at FotoKern Laboratories. This automated 8k film scanner has operated continuously more than 3 weeks for finishing the scan with more than 150,000 frames, producing over 30TB of image data in total. It has been spend a total of 16-months for digital intermediate process re-mastered before releasing it as blu-ray.

Picture Quality

Unbelievable how stunning the picture quality is where you hardly believe it was shooting on year 1992. It is by far the only beyond top notch quality you ever seen in any recent film transfer. The beauty and clarity deserved it 8k transfer.

The output is like you seen in real life where it surpass for the most aclaim outstanding movie - Avatar which basically mostly did in CGI, Baraka is not CGI, Baraka is real!

They is no single issue of DNR, EE or whatever technology apply, no sign of edge issue, judder, color banding, over sharpen or whatever you name it, it is not there. The only there is pure perfection transfer ever did.

Audio Quality

Even though this film without any narration, the perfect music score by Michael Stearns and featuring music by Dead Can Dance, L. Subramaniam, Ciro Hurtado, Inkuyo, Brother and David Hykes is outstanding than whatever you believe! Without them, this film is nothing.

Conclusion

The only film that beyond the edge. Top notch transfer in both PQ & AQ.

A must own for any blu-ray lover and a must seen film in your entire life at least once!

Ghajini (Hindi Edition) - BD Review

Yesterday night finish watching the year 2008 Hindi edition of Ghajini. I am impress with it storyline, acting, shooting, music compose, a brilliant yet touching Hindi film.

Even though the movie itself was inspired by US film "Memento". I found out from Wiki. But it is well done and deserve it box office result.

I give this movie 5 star and highly recommended.

Picture Quality

Surprisingly great transfer, among 3 hindi BD title I only own, this is by far the greatest transfer, no jerking, no color banding issue, no over DNR and etc. 5 star.

Sound Quality

Love the music compose by A. R. Rahman, something different and he is genius on this arena. But the music effect in this film is over high pitch, the treble is somehow too high on material crashing part which will eventually hurt your ear, I understand most Hindi film more on treble but this one is over done on those effect until I had no choice lower down the volume. 3 star.

Extra

No single extra added, but I do love the way it do where there is a "song" selection part that direct you to the movie singing part.

Trainspotting Limited Quersteelbook + Review

1st time my package has been detained by custom before release.

Trainspotting is by far one of the masterpieces of Danny Boyle direct film beside his award winning slumdog millionaire. Great directing and strong acting has bring out the beauty of drugs in this film. Some may find it over beauty the use of drugs, but for me this is the best part making such wonderful film.

Packaging
Thanks Universal Studio make this better packaging than any release at the moment worldwide. Love the Quersteelbook design and the use of one of the origin poster as cover.

Beside the BD, they is another orange paper disc with main actor/actress face + some dialog from the film beginning. This part is kinda cool.

Picture Quality
From net review in overall, I find all the transfer quality is not good, but in this latest release it seems far better where I give 4 star for it picture quality transfer. The release is squeeze everything in BD50 rather than previous version only in single layer BD25.

The transfer is clean, but they do some slightly jerking in certain scenes, not much just few which still in acceptable level as this is considere a budget film during filming on year 1996.

Overall the whole film is free of grains, only a small grains appear in outdoor scenes. Slighly DNR issue is spot but not affecting your viewing experience of the film in overall.

Color & tones is perfectly render, this is by far the best quality I ever seen in trainspotting.

Audio Quality
Agains thanks Universal Studio decide transfer the audio in lossless quality DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 which gains perfect audio experience for the entire film as audio is important in this film where it help pleasing the overall view.

This is another great part for this release rather than UK release which only lossy audio track is included.

I give full mark fot it audio transfer.

Extra Features
Some of the extra footage is the same as you seen in 1st release DVD edition, they do added some interviewing on year 2003 footage in this release. I check the contents it seems same as others release as well. All extra features in SD.

Beside this, I like to point out the disc is region FREE which means play everywhere and the main menu is option for you to choose what languages to start of, means they is no worried on menu selection.

Overall I give this a must have for fans that apprieciate this film.
